I have no particular problem with people sniping infantry with small Rails though, not like it has a sniper scope.
Pssh, even if it did it would be worthless. Thing fires at a 45 degree angle if the vehicle is on an incline
Oh, and then there's the fact that turrets swivel in all kinda crazy directions when unattended. Think we need to stop giving them candy, they're less obedient.
EDIT: Come to think of it... Anyway you can turn up the turn speed on turrets on LAVs specifically?

@Rattati: personally, I wouldn't see a small range reduction being entirely remiss, but might I suggest that you look to the Sniper ?Rifles for the problem? Aside from the Charge and Thales we rarely see other SRs being utilised: increasing zoom range might be the simplest fix for them, perhaps an additional headshot multiplier? You might want to hop in one and hit the ADS button. The difference may not be as great as you think. @Aeon, that is a bug not a feature, the strength of a turret should not be balanced based on bugs. @All, Ratatti has spoken. I shall now go spread the word that cheap Thales with slight range reductions are available in the marketplace and are equippable to all vehicles with no SP investment. Have fun. o7

That does not however take away from the fact that when not on an incline it can output 8016 with a single 24 round clip, at a rate of 2 rounds a second (12 seconds total). A Thales, by comparison, deals 1676.5 damage per clip at a rate of one round every 1.2 seconds. So in 6 seconds a Thale can dish out 1676.5 damage, while in the same span of time the MLT small rail with no SP investment can dish out 4008 damage. Over DOUBLE the damage in the same time frame.
I understand that it's a bug but that shouldn't be a factor taken into account in balancing the weapon. That being said, it's a vehicle mounted turret, if it did have more damage than a Sniper Rifle I'd be a little concerned
